Las Vegas continues to be a colorful surprise. On a recent road trip from Montana to California I stopped by the Seven Magic Mountains desert art installation just south of Las Vegas in Sloan, Nevada. I’ve been in Las Vegas many times, but I wasn’t familiar with this selfie-licious site. In fact, I found Seven Magic Mountains on an Apple Maps guide from Fotospot that curates Insta-worthy places around the country. Seven Magic Mountain is a burst of color in the rugged desert. This installation of land art consists of seven brightly-colored stacked boulders that reach 25 feet high. Designer Ugo Rondinone set out to to blend pop art into nature, creating a balance between the desert’s native splendor and human’s modern interpretation of beauty. The result is an explosive scene that is just beautiful to watch.
